Non so quanto diretta possa intendersi la competizione con Maven, se non limitata al fatto che sono entrambi compilatori, e pertanto "inevitabilemente" in qualche modo concorrenti.
Ma la grossa differenza, che rende assolutamente infima la concorrenza tra i due compilatori, è che Maven è dedicato principalmente ai progetti Java-oriented, come si può leggere alla pagina What is Maven:

Maven, a Yiddish word meaning accumulator of knowledge, was originally started as an attempt to simplify the build processes in the Jakarta Turbine project. There were several projects each with their own Ant build files that were all slightly different and JARs were checked into CVS. Il Google Software Construction Toolkit , come ampiamente spiegato nell'articolo di ZeusNews è un pacchetto software che rientra nella linea di progetti open source di Google e che consente la creazione di ambienti di compilazione basati su SCons, un package Python. Grazie ad esso, è possibile creare sorgenti multipiattarforma, compilabili sia su Windows che su Linux e MacOs.
Quest'ultimo non è certo un particolare irrilevante. |
