23:13 hi
23:14 < timekiller> hi
23:14 -!- nighthawk [~nighthawk@659AAD6DN.tor-irc.dnsbl.oftc.net] has joined #nottor
23:14 < Francisco> hi
23:14 which risks are there having "JAVASCRIPT" enabled in Firefox ?
23:14 < Francisco> firefox as in tbb or just firefox?
23:15 < Francisco> anyway, as we've seen for the past weeks, it's not that safe
23:15 firefox in bundle with tor
23:15 < Francisco> so if you can avoid it, I'd say you should
23:16 < timekiller> there are some reading about this on the tor website
23:16 < notarma> i'm fixing the faq right now in fact
23:16 < notarma> though i haven't decided quite how to fix it
23:16 < Francisco> and if you really need to, just fire up a VM with whonix or tails, you'll be safer
23:16 < timekiller> ahh
23:18 -!- Torrific [~Torrific@0001b896.user.oftc.net] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

23:21 < crypta> the thing with gmail notifier in TBB is that normally gmail notifier would protect you about the single malicious sites
you visit
23:22 < crypta> but on Tor, if exits are compromised, every single JS file you might load on a non-https connection could be
compromised at the same time
23:22 what do you think about mozilla.org which forced people having "JAVASCRIPT" enabled on FireFox 23 ?
23:22 < crypta> so you can't really allow any single js file if you want to protect yourself
23:22 < crypta> natsukao: you mean that they removed the menu option?
23:22 do you think to introduce FireFox 23, or do you think to go the fork ?
23:22 < crypta> you can still disable it in about:config
23:24 few people will be able to do it, and million people tell: i left it enabled, i don't want lose time to
disable it
23:24 < timekiller> what i think is that mozilla is now windows-like and it sucks !
23:25 < crypta> lol
23:25 < crypta> because they removed an option from a menu where it was not needed?
23:25 < timekiller> not only this
23:25 < timekiller> the increased number of updates is non-sens.....
23:26 < timekiller> just a race to the one who will have the bigger one....
23:26 -!- murica [~Ah@tor-exit0-readme.dfri.se] has joined #nottor
23:26 < crypta> it's just a number, and it seems useful for marketing purposes
23:26 < timekiller> yeah YOU TOLD IT !
23:26 < timekiller> marketing lol....
23:26 < timekiller> windows like
23:27 < crypta> you can make the best open source browser in the world, but if nobody uses it, it will die
23:27 < crypta> marketing by itself isn't something evil
23:27 < timekiller> i just answered to your question :) it's just what i think.
23:28 windows would like, but The Doors, the better ones
23:28 -!- tor_fanboy [~tor_fanbo@09GAAFZQQ.tor-irc.dnsbl.oftc.net] has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
23:29 < timekiller> and i also think that mozilla coders are maybe under drugs or something.... they just play changing the
place of the menu, settings and so one o.O
23:29 riders on the storm, there is a killer on the road...

23:33 < timekiller> good one
23:33 < notarma> except when large corporations poison the oceans
23:34 < xxx> we could say: "to depend from an operating system", or to have an alternative, a choice ?

23:35 i don't want a boxed computer
23:36 corporations are not in my mind,
23:37 i fuck about the corporations
23:37 corporation is not buying the computer for me, don't give me a possiblity of choice....
23:38 i buy a computer one time, and will be always the same, till parts will not be anymore available
23:39 < ejoro> Gatsby: Hey.
23:39 i don't buy because i don't need of things, i buy because i need things
23:40 many people buy, only because a thing is funny
23:41 i bought for example years ago a sun ultrasparc ultra v, and i'll go to use it to host my jobs
23:41 -!- murica [~Ah@659AAD6D5.tor-irc.dnsbl.oftc.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
23:41 i have not bought it because i would it, and i would to put it on the table
23:42 < timekiller> people buy because they see it on tv and because they want to have what everybody want to have, it's
called vanity
23:42 < timekiller> my laptop is 9 years old...
23:42 < timekiller> it still does the job ;)
23:45 my laptopp is a thinkpad t23, and to have a second one laptop i wait for 5 years, and i bough a dismissed

23:49 < vanja> I just adore my Windows 96 FOSS Edition
23:49 < timekiller> :D
23:49 < timekiller> i just adore my debian :)
23:50 i installed GNU/linux gNewSense; Deltah 2.3 kernel version 2.6.24-32
23:51 < timekiller> old computers, unix like, hum.... wait this channel is full of dissident !
23:51 toshiba is not good when you must to build a website, you became crazy
23:52 < vanja> sounds like a cross-site googling test :)
23:52 -!- ra_ [~ra@09GAAFZY9.tor-irc.dnsbl.oftc.net] has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
23:53 < lupine> 2.6.24? there's a blast from the past
23:53 < timekiller> new kernels don't really like old MB and Proc...
23:53 -!- murica [~Ah@torsrvp.snydernet.net] has joined #nottor
23:54 the kernel version used in GNU/linux gNewSense Deltah 2.3 it's 2.6.24-32
23:54 if you want a recent one, build the kernel
23:54 < timekiller> i had trouble building the current one in debian
23:54 < xxx> please read http://gnewsense.org
23:54 < timekiller> fanspeed problem
23:55 < timekiller> can't find the fuckin' good option :/
23:55 < xxx> if you want a GNU/linux gNewSense based on Debian, you must to bild it, GNU/linux gNewSense 3
23:57 < xxx> money i ot actually are 27,15 euros per all the month
23:57 < lupine> *shrug* i've run ancient kernels on modern hardware, and vice-versa. I've rarely had problems
23:58 < timekiller> luky u lupine
23:58 < lupine> if modern kernels are broken on your hardware, I'm sure they'll take a bug report
23:58 < timekiller> i'm in trouble with this :/
23:58 < xxx> i have not other resources, so i have to wait till september to buy hdd, and to install GNU/linux
gNewSense 3, and to backup before the data
23:58 < timekiller> but my computer still do the job easy with my kernel so....
23:58 < vanja> 2.6.24 AKA "the museum installation"
23:58 < lupine> i'd be shocked if there weren't serious security issues in it
23:59 < xxx> but it's stable
23:59 < lupine> not to mention the serious scheduling issues that weren't fixed before 2.6.32 or so
23:59 < lupine> old != stable
Day changed to 12 Aug 2013
00:00 < vanja> yup... stable security isuuses,
00:00 < vanja> issues *
00:00 < timekiller> the kernel i use is newer than the one use natsukao but you are right lupine there are some security
issues, but the doesn't matter for me as my wifi is disabled and they are just local issues
00:00 < lupine> *shrug*
00:00 < lupine> I can hardly speak, I had a PA-RISC running potato for a while
00:00 < xxx> and this was the version based on ubuntu, GNU/linux gNewsense 3, i never installed, i don't know which
kernel version are using
00:00 < lupine> back when etch was current

00:02 < ricta> How can I set up a new account with OFTC IRC?
00:02 < timekiller> yeah still a good one
00:02 < lupine> including a backport of coreutils ^6
00:02 < lupine> honestly, there's not a lot of squeeze left in it
00:02 < timekiller> using nickserv ricta ?

like that, just using simple IRC comand ?
00:05 < timekiller> commands*

00:07 < timekiller> ;)
00:08 < xxx> don't like me GUI's such as ubuntu, mac os x, windows
00:08 < timekiller> haha i gave up on kde and newer version of Gnome because they are now windows-like
00:09 < timekiller> i guess u noticed that i don't like windows so much....
