Be' allora no. Laughing Questo pc quasi non si merita nemmeno un hd nuovo. Nonostante questo pensavo di prenderne uno con prestazioni maggiori di quello attuale, appunto per compensare l'obsolescenza della macchina. Ero indecisa tra un hd normale da 7200 rpm (l'attuale è da 5400), oppure un ibrido sshd da 5400 rpm con 8 GB di memoria flash. In ogni caso spenderei circa 60 euro per un disco da 500 GB, che quasi certamente supera il valore attuale del pc. Laughing

L'osolescenza della macchina è inarrestabile, è la cpu il vero tallone d'Achille. Tuttavia con ssd potresti vedere miglioramenti, con un hdd da 7200 rpm...più o meno, resta quello, miglioramento minimo...

non ho letto dall'inizio (e quindi non conosco i dettagli tecnici della tua macchina) però se è tanto vecchia è difficile che un SSD ti aiuti davvero.

intendiamoci, farà il boot più velocemente, però una volta pronta sarà sostanzialmente la macchina di prima (a meno che non hai davvero poca RAM e l'incremento di prestazioni nello swap sia notevole, però ti bruci l'HD un po' in fretta...)

penso però che se ci dai dettagli (che CPU? quanta e quale RAM?) possiamo consigliarti qualche distribuzione Linux (e qualche programma!) per allungare ancora un pochino la vita del tuo PC.

hai un Core2 T5800 a 2GHz e 4 GB di RAM DDR2 - ad occhio sembra essere poca la RAM per quasi qualunque cosa, ormai... ma il tutto dipende dall'uso che fai del PC

Ci faccio tutto. Cioè, quello che riesco a farci. Laughing Non è l'unico pc che ho a casa, ma questo è il mio personale e alla fine uso solo lui. Normalmente ci navigo, ci guardo lo streaming (Netflix, ecc), visualizzo foto e riproduco video. Ci gioco anche, per quello che si riesce (riesco a far andare giochi datati come Half-Life 2). Ci ho fatto persino rendering, nei limiti della macchina, ovviamente.


So che la RAM è scarsa per i tempi, e naturalmente la scheda video. La RAM non credo che se ne possa aggiungere: ho fatto qualche ricerca e ho trovato che ne può avere al massimo 4 giga e io appunto ce li ho già. Poi non so se fossero informazioni attendibili. Confused

A questo proposito mi viene anche il dubbio sull'hard disk. Anche in questo caso c'è un limite alla dimensione che può gestire? E se sì, dove trovo questa informazione? Io vorrei metterlo da 500 GB, così avrei abbastanza spazio per una partizione dati aggiuntiva (che userei per dei backup più frequenti, ad esempio giornalieri, senza dover collegare un hd esterno tutte le volte).

lo swappiness così non va molto bene, dato che hai poca RAM ti trovi che il sistema farà swap subito. segui questo breve tutorial e andrà meglio

e poi parliamo della cache del disco Wink
